Creating a unique and captivating website which takes readers on a journey of discovery inside north Devon’s leading luxury travel destination
In creating the website for the incredible Collective at Woolsery we channelled the vision of 1970s Kate Bush scampering through the wild beaches and countryside of remote north Devon, long cotton frock hitched up one one side as she foraged for mushrooms and toasted the crescent moon with curious cocktails.
That inspo came from conversation with the team at The Collective about how they wanted to create a site that would take people on a journey of discovery that would lead them to stumble upon the incredible new-wave British cooking done by chef Ian Webber at The Farmers Arms, and introduce them to the groundbreaking regenerative farming techniques in use at Birch Farm. Then there was the old-school nostalgic charm of the village shop and the exceedingly unusual approach to the nation’s favourite supper as crafted at Woolsery Fish & Chips. Wulfheard Manor is still in production, but has been joined by a collection of original accommodation experiences in the village.
Pulling all these strands together and using the brand look we’d already created, the Salt team decided to approach the project as a publishing venture, using stories to tell the user about the many chapters of the project, and thereby create a tonne of original content which could be linked to social and e-newsletter platforms. We built in a booking engine and used photos from the shoots we did with talented photographer Matt Austin.
Owners of the project, Michael and Xochi Birch were delighted with the results – so much so they’ve asked Salt to do a similar thing with their estate on Moskito Island in the British Virgin Islands. View The MOKO Collection website.
