Check us out – we’ve only gone and scooped not one but two internationally-recognised publishing prizes in the Gourmand World Cookbook Awards for the Independent Coffee Guide series.
Showcasing the best places to drink top-notch coffee, The South West and South Wales Independent Coffee Guide scooped the Best Book About Coffee 2018 in the UK category, while the Scottish Independent Coffee Guide was awarded the accolade in the Scotland category, both of which are written, designed and published by Salt Media.
‘It’s a fantastic achievement. I’m immensely proud of the team and all their hard work. It’s great for our creative design service to receive such recognition,’ says Salt Media director, Nick Cooper.
The annual awards celebrate the best food and wine publications in the world, with books from more than 209 countries participating. Launched in 1995 by Edouard Cointreau, the Gourmand World Cookbook Awards ceremony will take place on May 26, 2018 in Yantai, China.
The Irish and Northern editions of the Independent Coffee Guide series were also shortlisted in the prestigious awards. The pocked-sized regional guides have been a cultural phenomenon in the growing speciality coffee sector since the first South West Coffee Guide was launched in 2014.
‘The Independent Coffee Guide series has grown with the rise of the speciality coffee movement and the latest edition of the Northern and South West guides were our biggest yet. We work hard to make the guides a good read while looking beautiful so it’s great to see the team’s work recognised by internationally acclaimed food and drink writers,’ adds Independent Coffee Guide editor, Kathryn Lewis.
