The VNJ is an international, peer-reviewed, bi-monthly journal for veterinary nurses
The VNJ features peer-reviewed clinical and educational articles, practice-management and wellbeing features, news and research specially selected to support veterinary nurses’ professional development. The journal is available in print and via VNJ’s interactive online platform.
In 2022, the team at Salt Media were asked to revisit the design style of the VNJ, using the BVNA’s already established brand guidelines but giving the bi-monthly journal a fresh look to appeal to nurses and to attract new advertisers.
The project involved: creating print and digital versions of the journal and an accompanying member email; the creation of a new editorial style guide; accessibility features to improve the experience of neurodivergent readers; digital-ready design elements for optimisation and online interaction; and a switch to non-toxic dyes and FSC paper.
The Salt team continue to work closely with the VNJ team and provide sub-editing, proofreading, design and project management services for each bi-monthly issue.
The BVNA is delighted with the new-look journal and its CEO Huw Jones told us:
‘Salt Media have played a key role in transforming our publication. From their creative input, design, proofing, planning and finishing, nothing has been too much trouble. It’s been a real pleasure working with the team.’
