We don’t deal in drab awards ceremonies at Salt Media – we’ve endured enough mass catered meals and soulless settings to know they’re a total bore.
So we make sure our annual Food Reader Awards are not only a fun but thoroughly delicious affair. And the 2019 ceremony at The Greenbank Hotel in Falmouth was no exception.
With over 25,000 reader votes cast this year, the awards are a coveted prize in the South West and the ceremony gathers a who’s-who of the thriving foodie scene. Dave Jenkins of Rock Salt Cafe in Plymouth (Best Chef), Lympstone Manor (Best Foodie Hotel) and Porthminster Beach Cafe (Best Restaurant) were among the big winners on the night.
Kicking off with a curve-ball fizz from the wine buffs at Enotria & Coe (as well as Wrecking Coast G&Ts and Sharp’s Offshore Pilsner), the ceremony – which was hosted by Salt Media directors Jo Rees and Nick Cooper – was complemented by a lip-smacking line-up of dishes from the talented kitchen team at The Greenbank. Highlights included surf-and-turf style canapes, a paupiette of sole with vibrant salsa verde and a lusciously smooth green tea pannacotta.
